文化研究者でCalifornia State University,

Long Beachの教授でもあるDr. Oliver Wangが、

著書『Cruising J-Town: Japanese American Car

Culture in Los Angeles』をもとに、

サウスベイの日系アメリカ人と

車文化の歴史について紹介します。

Join cultural scholar and CSU Long Beach professor Dr. Oliver Wang as he discusses his 2025 book Cruising J-Town: Japanese American Car Culture in Los Angeles. The first book to explore Asian American car culture, Cruising J-Town traces more than 110 years of Japanese American history in Southern California through hot rods, street racers, gardeners’ trucks, and more. Drawing from the companion exhibition he curated for the Japanese American National Museum, Wang reveals how car culture has shaped identity, creativity, and community across generations. With special guests Tod Kaneko and Glenn Kuwata.
